Most Puerto Ricans are tri-racial genetically, regardless of phenotype; but the concept of ‘isolate’ is ridiculous in the context of Puerto Rico, since that is a characteristic of the whole population, not of a peripheral group. There is no ‘Taino-Arawak’ identity group which can claim historical continuity with the pre-hispanic population; The contemporary ‘Tainos’ are a pseudo-historical reconstruction, and have no more claim to that identity than any other Puertorican.
