Solomon Northup was born free circa 1808 to a father who was a freeman of color and a mother who he would describe as a “quadroon”. In 1829, Northup married a mixed-race woman with whom he had three children.

    The history of “racial mixture” is quite fascinating. Have you ever considered taking one of those DNA tests? Not that I think their 100% accurate, but still intriguing. I think those tests will start to be more used for political motives in the future. Sorry for rambling…Anyway, keep the posts coming!

      I had my X chromosome tested before I knew there was another company that would do both X and Y for a decent price. My X chromosome is haplogroup H.
