Lyrics

Daylight
I wake up feeling like you won’t play right
I used to know, but now that shit don’t feel right
It made me put away my pride
So long
You made a nigga wait for some, so long
You make it hard for a boy like that to know wrong
I’m wishing I could make this mine, oh

If you want it, yeah
You can have it, oh, oh, oh
If you need it, ooh
We can make it, oh
If you want it
You can have it

But stay woke
Niggas creepin’
They gon’ find you
Gon’ catch you sleepin’ (oh)
Now stay woke
Niggas creepin’
Now don’t you close your eyes

Too late
You wanna make it right, but now it’s too late
My peanut butter chocolate cake with Kool-Aid
I’m trying not to waste my time

If you want it, oh
You can have it (you can have it)
If you need it (you better believe in something)
We can make it, oh
If you want it
You can have it, ah!

But stay woke (stay woke)
Niggas creepin’ (they be creepin’)
They gon’ find you (they gon’ find you)
Gon’ catch you sleepin’ (gon’ catch you sleepin’, put your hands up on me)
Now stay woke
Niggas creepin’
Now don’t you close your eyes

But stay woke (ooh, ah)
Niggas creepin’
They gon’ find you (they gon’ find you)
Gon’ catch you sleepin’ (gon’ catch you, gon’ catch you, ooh)
Now stay woke
Niggas creepin’
Now don’t you close your eyes

How’d it get so scandalous?
Oh, how’d it get so scandalous?
Oh, oh, how’d it get, how’d it get
How’d it get so scandalous?
How’d it get so scandalous?
Ooh we get so scandalous
But stay woke
But stay woke

Sade – Why can’t we live Together ? – Montreux Jazz Festival ( 1984 )

“This is Sade’s cover of the Timmy Thomas song of the same name that went to #1 on the US R&B chart in 1972. Her cover appeared as the last song on her first album, “Diamond Life” (1984). In the video above she sings it at an anti-apartheid concert at Clapham Common in London in 1986.
Santana has also covered this song. Drake samples it heavily in “Hotline Bling” (2015), currently at #1 on the US R&B chart.”

Black Eyed Peas – Bebot (Generation One)

Abagond has the translation 😀
This is one of my favorite Black Eyed Peas songs even though I had only understood ‘Chicken Adobo’ and ‘Filipino’ 😀
Thank you Abagond
A few emotional songs you know are important, even without knowing the language – this one and

* Roberto Darvin’s – Fronteras – sung by Mili Bermejo

and
* Mercedes Sosa – Sólo le pido a Dios

My wife doesn’t by a lot of music, but she bought CDs for these two artists – so good, and I bought all the Black Eyed Peas CDs 😀

Martha Redbone Roots Project: The Garden of Love [MUSIC VIDEO]

Remarks:

This is from Martha Redbone’s 2012 album “The Garden of Love” where she sings the poetry of William Blake. She is from Appalachia, part Black, White and Native (Cherokee, Choctaw) and so is her music, though she does sing some straight R&B (like “Boyfriehd”and “Children of Love”). In 2002 she won a Nammy (Native American music award) for Debut Artist. As maybe you can imagine, she has been on NPR.
